The Sussex Beacon, in Bevendean Road, Brighton, specialises in caring for people with HIV/AIDS. Historically, its patients have been mainly gay men, but there are now growing numbers of heterosexual men and women using its services.
Services provided are:
- Monitoring, maintenance and treatment support for the newly diagnosed, patients starting drug treatments and those experiencing side effects.
- Medical convalescence and rehabilitation for individuals with major medical problems or those who have had surgery.
- Palliative care for people dying of AIDS related conditions and also cancers.
- Community services comprising a sleep clinic, an anxiety management clinic, a treatment support clinic, and a smoking cessation clinic.
